Wicked Waste

Wicked Waste

This is another song that originated with Steve's previous band, Peer Pressure, and all of the lyrics and some of the music are all from Steve's good friend, Brandon Powell.  Victor Mason came up with a catchy bass line, and Steve created the music for the chorus plus a cute little guitar solo.  Dave Bibona, Peer Pressure's drummer is unfortunately lost on the demo tape the band created years ago.  For this recording Steve sang the lead vocals plus played the guitars and bass, and Moss "Match-grip" Muhairwe has stepped in to lay down the backbeat and sing the backing vocals.

Wicked Waste is a haunting exploration of a society on the brink of collapse. This track dives deep into the themes of political corruption, systemic decay, and the high price of silence in a dystopian world. As the line between authority and tyranny blurs, we’re left to wonder: what remains when the smoke clears?

If you enjoy dark alternative, cinematic rock, or protest music that challenges the status quo, this one is for you.

Lyrics:

Who can you trust when the public choose to watch the soaps?

I'm about to get my neck measured for a rope.

Mass opinion panders to the sellers of bad taste.

Our civilization is one of wicked waste.

Humans shrink and die as we live in fear of war.

Legislation binds us and we still must write some more.

Rolling down the widest road on burning wheels of haste

Our civilization is one of wicked waste

Whoa jump off the train, it's time to use your brain

Kick the thorns until they break break break

Rock foundations 'till they shake

What can you do when the worst are the ones who make it big?

And crowded streets are full of pushy pigs.

The highest achievement is efficient exploitation

Our country has become a wicked wasteful nation

If politicians were ignored would they just go away

Good people trust them too much, they'll kill us all one day.

Ambition to control should be viewed with distaste.

If we love the land we've got to stop this wicked waste.

Whoa jump off the train, it's time to use your brain

Kick the thorns until they break break break

Rock foundations 'till they shake
